Re: Canon EOS M5 Review - From a 6D Owner.

Hello David,

Concerning shutter lag I had the same problem until I changed to a faster

memory card. Now the camera is almost as responsive as my 5d mark 3.

Btw some lenses are slow on the M5. Regards, Henrik

Nice review. As for the DR being 1 stop worse than the 80D, looking at Bill Claff's PDR curves, the DR performance of the 80D and the M5 look to be pretty much the same. I suspect that the small degradation comes from the fact that they are running the sensor all the time.

I bought it as a travel camera given that I didn't want to drag my 5DIII all over Europe. For that purpose the M5 looks to be perfect.

One thing I don't think you mentioned is the relative responsiveness of the camera. Just for fun, I took it to an airshow a few weeks ago and was rather disappointed (although not really surprised) with it's shutter lag and viewfinder blackout time. I would say that if you are a "soccer mom" or a "NasCar Dad" looking for something to do that sort of sports stuff, stick with the DSLR.
