100-400GM is Amazing
24

I haven't had it long, but my first few times out with the Sony 100-400 GM have really impressed me.  First, I have not shot it on a tripod, yet. Everything is handheld.  Yes, this is not the right way to "test" a lens, but I wanted to see what I could do without the tripod.  Stunningly good IS.

This lens has a quality ... a "pop" ... that I've seen primarily on Zeiss lenses.  I have 10 Zeiss prime lenses, so I'm familiar with those qualities.  After being out with the 100-400, and shooting it alongside the Loxia 21mm and 35mm lenses, I find myself drawn to the shots from the big zoom.  Not that the Loxia lenses are chopped liver, of course.  They are excellent.

I'm using the 100-400 handheld for almost a macro lens, and getting that micro-contrast that just stops you when you view the image.

Anyway, just wanted to share a few shots with what may well become one of my favorite lenses.
