Still photo while taking a movie? EOS-M6 EOS-M5 or EOS-M100

One of the features I use from time to time on my original EOS-M (and my iphone) is the ability to take a still picture while I'm taking a movie.
It looks like Canon has dropped this feature from their latest DSLRs with the exception of the 7D MK II and 70D.  (I've checked the manuals for the 5D MK 4, 6D Mk II, SL2, 77D, 80D, T7i ).   I thought it was a side effect of "dual pixel AF" but both the 7D MK II and 70D support the feature.
This feature and the lack thereof is clearly spelled out in the canon manuals (7D MK II has a a whole section on how to use the feature, the other DSLRs have a statement that you can not take a still photo while taking a movie).

I've gone through the manuals for the M6 M5 and M100 and can find no mention regarding taking still photos while taking a movie.
Can any M6/M5/M100 owners tell me what the shutter button does when fully depressed in movie mode on Canon's latest mirror-less cameras?  Does it take a picture? Stop/Start the movie?

Thanks!
