Best choice for beginner with two hand-me-down Nikkor F2.8D FX lenses

My father has been out of photography for 15 years and has safely stored two mint Nikon lenses. They are:

  1. Nikon AF-S Nikkor 28-70mm f2.8D ED FX
  2. Nikon AF-S Nikkor 80-200mm f2.8D ED FX

I have been told these are well reviewed professional lenses?

This fact along with my long-standing interest in photography has compelled me to purchase a new dSLR. My budget is no more than $1000 and my main shooting interests include wildlife, landscapes etc that I come across while mountain biking and hiking as well as family vacation photos and urban walkabouts.

I am concerned that the 28-70mm FX focal range will be a bit too long for my main lens but I have no experience with this. Refurbished D7200s are going for around $700 which would leave some room to purchase a wide-angle lens to fill in the gap. I could also foresee continued pricedrops for the D610 or D750 FX which could get closer to $1000-1200 and would work better for the two FX lenses.

Selling either lens is not an option at this point.

I appreciate any feedback!
