Stylus 1: Brightening of view during autofocus

I have noticed something on my Stylus 1 that doesn't seem to happen on my E-M1-1 during autofocus. On the former, whenever I do a half-shutter depress to autofocus, the view (LCD and viewfinder) brightens up unusually bright no matter how bright the scene is. Once the green box appears, indicating focus captured, the added brightness dissappears. I thought it may be a result of the aperture setting, but it also happens when I have it set to the maximum 2.8. When I set it to manual, this brightening during focussing does not occur.

Note: I have flash turned totally off too.

Does anyone know why this view brightening happens during autofocus and what is actually happening? I find it a bit distracting and would like to get rid of that.

Thanks,

Myck
