Intangibles and perceptions...

Nothing earth shaking here - no photos - no technical talk. But I had an experience the other day that made me realize (reaffirm) how unique Samsung cameras were (still are).
OK - so it was a nice day and I reached for my NX500 (brown with silver accents version). In addition, I had a gorgeous brown leather Gariz camera case attached (the bottom portion).
So my wife and I were walking on a park trail which goes around a small lake in my community. As we were walking, one gent (coming in the opposite direction) stopped to me ask me about my camera. It caught me off guard because he was very curious. He happened to be carrying an older Canon Rebel.
He appeared excited and wanted to know the make of my camera, marveling over it's design. I let him hold it and he was very complimentary about how the camera felt and appeared. He immediately wanted to know where he could purchase one. I had to break the news to him that Samsung was no longer making cameras and he seemed genuinely disappointed. Even his wife (or girlfriend - I didn't ask) remarked at how "luxurious" the camera looked.
I then let him take a few shots with it - using the touch screen. He again was impressed, remarking that he never previously thought about using touchscreens because he thought they were a gimmick and he seemed spoiled at the ease at which he could select focus points and focus. I told him that Canon is now producing cameras with excellent touchscreens in both their mirrorless and DSLR lines. But he was focused on the Samsung because of it's appearance and how it felt.
Oh well, it's funny how these things work out. It just made me realize how glad (fortunate) I was to have retained several NX models. They'll never get old and I must admit that among all of the different "rangefinder-like" styled cameras I have from Canon, Fuji, M43, and Samsung, the NX series (in my case the NX300 andf NX500) are without reservation, the most comfortable cameras to hold and use. And I realize this is all subjective - but this is the Samsung forum, ehhhh!!!!!
