She said she'd like to have a function that Canon doesn't provide, and how to deal with its absence. Given you can't make that function magically appear, what are you going to do about it?

She does say that canon dont have a shutter speed setting you can set as a limit, but after words says that in all the mods it chooses to slow of a shutter speeds but you can use manual and TV to compensation for the problem.

Right, so the real problem is you don't know how to compensate for the problem in Av?

Let's use an example. Say you get normal image brightness at f/8, ISO 100, and 1/30, but 1/30 is too slow for you.

You could use M, and set f/8, ISO 200, and 1/60.

You could use M and auto-ISO, set f/8 and 1/60, and the camera will choose ISO 200.

You could use Tv, set 1/60 and ISO 200, and the camera will choose f/8.

You with me so far?

OR, you could stay in Av, set f/8 and ISO 200, and the camera will choose 1/60.

Try taking some shots like that. Put your camera on tripod with an unchanging scene so you get the same metering for every shot.

In every case you get the shutter you want and the same image brightness as f/8, ISO 100, and 1/30.

Also, you could use f/5.6, ISO 100, and 1/60 in any of the three modes and get the same image brightness again. Try that as well so that you see what's happening for yourself.

Thanks for the input, I did play around and I know how to get the shutter speed faster so next time i will play with more settings and see how she goes!
