Upgrade to SL2 from SL1

My wife currently shoots wildlife and nature using her SL1 using a Tamron SP VC 70-300.,  I recently added a Tamron SP 150-600 to my 5TI a while back.  Needless to say, my wife has lens envy.  She is a small stature person and reports it to be extremely difficult to handhold the 150-600 on the SL1.  I was thinking of upgrading her camera to a SL2 with the increased resolution, it would enable her to crop in a little bit to compensate for a longer lens.

I guess I am asking is it worth the upgrade.  I know the focus points stay the same.  Has the speed and accuracy of the focusing increased?

Thanks in advance for any imputs.
