How compatible is the Olympus 300mm. f4 with the Panasonic GH4?

I recently purchased a Panasonic GH4, which is now heavily discounted in price. I would like to use it for bird photography in travel situations where taking a full-sized DSLR rig is inconvenient. For this purpose, I apparently can choose between two long lenses: the Panasonic/Leica 100-400mm and the Olympus 300mm f4.

I would like to know what features of the Olympus telephoto work properly with the Panasonic camera body, e.g., autofocus, image stabilization, etc. I have read in these forums that it generally is a good idea to buy lenses that are the same brand as the camera. In this particular case, does this advice hold true?

I know that the Olympus supertele is superior optically and is far more expensive than the Panasonic zoom. But if the lens will not autofocus adequately or provide image stabilization on my camera body, it would not be a good choice for me.

I will appreciate any input.
