Yeah dude, you're referring to a different issue.

On the original A7's (and I think even the Mk IIs do this, but I don't own one so not sure), when you shoot anything in bulb mode it drops the file into 12 bit mode.  I have some bad news for you.  Sony is never going to fix this.  For all we know these cameras don't even have the hardware capability to support 14 bit bulb mode.  We can't even get uncompressed RAW, so 14 bit bulb mode is never coming.

The "star eater" issue, is that on Mk II models, Sony introduced (with a firmware update) very aggressive spatial filtering (think hot pixel detection) that eats a lot of stars thinking they are hot pixels.

They are very different issues man, and if you're holding out for 14 bit raw in bulb mode on original A7's, it will never happen.
