Preventing wear of golden letters
2

The faux gold paint on the raised letters on many higher end G (and E) lenses tend to get abrade away with normal use. Does anyone have a good DIY fix to prevent the paint to wear off? My thoughts are to just put some adhesive tape or perhaps one of those thick rubber band over the label. Some lenses have the focus scale in the same area. Perhaps clear tape would be good then (so that one can still see the focus scale), although such tend to be rather flimsy.

(Is this a completely ridiculous topic? To be honest, I don't really care, but it will lower the second hand value of the lens.)
