Which A6300 lens for Safari?

I'm heading on safari in Botswana (Lebala Camp and Little Kwara Camp). I've read lots discussion on here, but I'm still having some difficulty deciding what lens to purchase/rent.

My main body is an A6300, I've also got a NEX-5N I'm thinking of slinging in with a shorter focal length lens (18-55, or 10-18).

I've ruled out:

  • Sony 55-210mm f4.5-6.3 OSS
  • Sony 70-200mm f/4 G
  • Sony 70-200mm f2.8 GM

as they're either too expensive or I don't think they'll provide enough reach

The options I can see are:

  • Sony 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 GM (rent)
  • Sony FE 70-300mm
  • Sigma 100-400mm f5.6-6.3 + MC-11
  • Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 + MC-11

I'm also wondering if I should just take the A6300 with the shorter focal length lenses I already have, and rent/buy an RX10 III for the trip.

What I'm really unsure about is how much focal length do I really need? The safaris will be in open-sided land rovers, and I understand we'll be getting pretty close to the animals.

The RX10 seems like the most versatile package, but I'd rather take the A6300 as I'm familiar with the controls.

Sony a6300 Sony Alpha NEX-5N Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 Sony RX10 III
