I'm considering buying a used Sigma 50-500mm APO EX., and need to decide quickly. Sigma claims this lens won't focus properly on a65 and a77 without an update. Does anyone know if this is also true with the a77 II (or for that matter, any other SLT's than the two specified in Sigma's original announcement)?

I have a Bigma that is a POS on my A-77 and A-68. Never close to sharp focus at any focal length and any distance - even at F11. It worked OK on my A-100 and was sharp at F11 and just so-so at F8.

I sent it to Sigma with a month remaining on the warranty (Feb 2012). They replaced the front element and adjusted the focus, but refused to update software.

I purchased the lens in March 2008. It says "Sigma 50-500mm 1:4-6.3 APO DG" on one side and "EX Sigma" on the other. The S/N is 5041597.  The order says:

Sigma 50-500mm f/4-f6.3 APO DG EX
