I have an X-T2 and have been using the trashcan + real command 3-second press shortcut when formatting my SD cards. Recently it stopped woking - the dialog doesn't get invoked by the procedure.

I was on firmware v2.00 so I decided to update to 2.11. After the firmware update, the first time I tried it, it worked. I thought the problem was solved. But now, when I try it, it no longer works.

Any suggestions?

What about trashcan then rear dial?

Thanks. It seems to be very sensitive to the timing. I the past, pressing them at the same time worked but now it appears that the trash button must be held down 2 or 3 seconds before initiating the press of the rear command dial. If I miss the timing on the first press, following with the correct timing doesn't reliably work. I have to turn the camera off and on again to get it working. It seems like somehow the firmware isn't properly recovering from improperly-timed button presses.

I've always had this problem - its difficult to get it exactly right - annoying.

The problem here is that, not only is the timing finicky, there is no feedback to guide the user to the right timing. E.g. Press the trash button until you hear a beep then press the rear command file while continuing to hold the trash button... and/or after the requisite time holding down the trash button a dialog on screen tells the user to press the rear command dial. In addition, pressing the buttons at the time would do nothing behind the scenes and following the proper sequence after should still work.

Even better, why not just allow pressing both at the same time to work? There are still a couple more steps to get to actually formatting so not allowing the the simultaneous button press to work doesn't make it any "safer" from accidentally formatting a card.

That sounds very familiar to me as well - seems that it changed.
