Recovered files are in mpo format

Help!

I bought the Sony DSC-RX10 III in August, just before going on vacation to Scotland. Somehow on the trip, I managed to delete a day's worth of shooting. I was able to recover the files using Disk Drill, and now many are in .mpo format and I cannot open them.

Since the camera was so new, I shot a lot of images using Superior Auto Mode, which shoots burst of images and processes them into a single image. Since so many were landscapes, and backlit, this feature was used a lot. I suspect/assume that the mpo files are those photos. Not all photos are in mpo format -- most are jpegs and have no issues.

I have a MacBook Pro with OSX Yosemite 10.10.5. I have seen a tiny thumbnail appear in the Finder list.

How can I open them? Ideally to save as another file type, like .jpeg. I have tried several apps and Photoshop CC 2017.

Any clues what I can do?

Thank you in advance!
