Night Time in the city - APS-C limitations

I feel the APS-C sensor is showing it's limitations for this type of photography and a FF camera with fast glass would give more acuity, DR, and a generally cleaner image.

I'm finding the limit finally for my own APS-C work and it is just this - night time city scapes, the gradients and transitions are too abrupt both in terms of shadows and highlights and colour. The DR is not quite as wide.

Just my opinion of course.

If you think I could do better with the same camera please feel free to offer CC about what I could have done better. Way I see it for the first image a slower s/speed would mean the street lamps blowing out in my experience and that would be the only way with an F2.8 lens to get closer to base ISO.  Work done in SEFX Pro 2 and decided no NR as grain suited the scene.

The second is OKAY and is SOOC
