Electronic equipment and seal of approval

News story going back a few months. Someone using a non-Apple charger for their iPhone and cable started smoking.

This is a general topic (non-brand specific and non-device specific - so posted to Open forum). Electronics and what seals of approval you should look for?

In Canada we have this. https://www.esasafe.com/assets/files/esasafe/pdf/Sample_Bulletins/2-7-29.pdf

Electronic or electrical products sold in Canada should have a CSA approval logo on the product (or maybe one of the other approval seals in the link above will do?).

I am wondering if certain electronic products like portable or desktop radios should also have an official authourized approval seal like the CSA one?  Or do radios fall into a product section that allows them to bypass such approval?   Battery run or AC run make a difference?

For sure electronic device chargers should or must carry the proper approval seal, probably the CSA one if they're being sold in Canada?

What about in the USA or other countries around the world?  What kind of standards do you have for electronics before they're allowed to be sold in your country?
