Portrait focusing advice

Hi folks.

I soon wish to set up a portrait shoot with someone I know for a bit of practice. I’m interesting in knowing how people go about getting the eyes sharp.

Do people frame the shot and move the focus point with the multi-selector to the eye of the person, or do you focus on the eye (with the focus point at the center) and then reframe the shot? Or neither of these.

Any advice you can give would be great

Thank you.
