So i have a X-T2 and 4 of the best lenses as well as the original grip for the body. Its the 16-55, 16, 56 and the 90 which i include in the trade. The other guy has this for trade

LEICA M262. 29000:-

CARL ZEISS C-BIOGON 35/2.8 4600:-

VOIGTLÄNDER NOKTON 50/1.5 ASPH 5000:-

LEICA SUMMARIT 50/2.5 6500:---

Would that be a good trade straight off?

Curious as to what your suggestions would be.

Heck yeah especially when its a Leica. You'll be blown away by the IQ when you use any Leica camera + its lens.

I wasn't blown away with the M8. Just sayin.

I have both (not exact same kits, but close enough).

In my country that X-T2 kit is worth s/h about $5250 on a good day. That Leica kit is worth about $6400. As a straight swap it is a good deal in terms of $ value.

In terms of cameras and capabilities, they are so vastly different they have more different than the same. The Leica kit will have 35-50mm range and the Fuji 24-135mm.

But for the value of the kit, i would say that you could try it out and sell it if you didn't like it and still end up in front.

lol i may have exaggerated, however when i sold my fuji for a leica t + 23mm summicron, I was surprised at its sharpness and quality. some may be "blown away" by the m8, some may not, all in all, everyone's perception of IQ is different.

I know what you mean. I had an M9 and it was amazing and ISO 400 and below. Wish I could have that quality with Fuji.

You will be left with a 35mm lens and (2) 50mm lenses; nothing wider as you have now.

Also, remember that the Leica is a completely different beast than the Fuji. Rangefinder use is completely different than working with a (D) SLR viewing system, although I think you do realize that.

I do not know if this is important to you, but you do know that you won't have a "live view" feature with this Leica; the M 240 model does have that, but the M 262 is strictly rangefinder viewing/focusing.

Not sure why you are replying to me?

They’re two very different cameras and, if there’s a possibility, try to keep both for the time being. The XT2 has one of the best EVFs on the market with fantastic WYSIWYG capability. Another factor is that if the Leica requires any kind of servicing, you can be out of a camera for months (my partner’s Q has been in for a switch and dust on sensor repair for over five months now with no sign of it coming back any time soon).

Yes i realize they are very different, I will think this one through, my initial thought was getting a D850 to compliment my lenses there lol. But ended up with this proposition so was first very keen on it. But the more i think of it, the Fuji has become my workhorse more so than my Nikons lately, so will have to think of in terms of what i really need overall. My goal is to hav a great travel/fun camera and a workhorse .

would you consider a Leica T? it's a great, solid camera that will produce wonderful images with the 23mm summicron. for a workhorse setup, the 35mm summilux + 55-135, 18-56, 11-23, are all on the table as well. comes with 16gb internal memory and has pretty decent battery life.

downside is some visible noise at high ISO but can overcome this with a fast lens and using max ISO at 3200 or below. if you love using a viewfinder then you'll be unhappy to spend an extra $500 for an external, however you can live without one and composing shots on the lcd is doable.

but if you insist on an EVF, it's big, bright, fast refresh rate, tillable to get those low-angle shots.

you can get a used leica t + 23mm summicron in new condition for less than $2000. fortunately, I was able to get the camera, lens, and EVF as a set for $1.5k

Perhaps a minor point, but if you like to work at close distances to your subject, most rangefinders will only focus to about 3 feet from the subject.

I have a Leica M6 and 50mm Cron that I love. I have both a Fuji system and a D810. I tried a Leica M240 and was not very impressed. Part of the problem was the rangefinder in the M240. It must have been out of alingment because it would back focus some of the time. The camera was only one year old. I was not willing to send in to Leica to have fixed. Apparently it is common on the Leica's. It was not worth the trouble.

I really was not blown away by the Leica vs the Fuji. The Nikon of course was in another league IQ quality wise but does come with a high price (weight). The leica M240 was terrible with high ISO's. The fuji was much better.

I really love my Leica M6 and wanted to love the M240 but ultimately could not.

That is just my experience with the cameras.

The magic of Leica is the lenses. Just get a used/old Summicron or Summilux, a generic adapter, and try it on your X-T2. If that strengthens your Leica lust, get more lenses and get a Fuji X-Pro 2 for the optical viewfinder with its framelines.

I have both systems, and for me, Leica is more fun and Fuji is more productive. Both serve a purpose for my photography, but I would get rid of the Fuji in a nanosecond if it came down to choosing. Nothing can replace the pure photographic experience of shooting with a rangefinder.

The M262 is an excellent choice, but some may find it a bit limiting because it lacks liveview. I'm also not particularly fond of the lenses included in your trade. I'd probably swap all 3 lenses for a 28 Summicron or a 35 Summilux FLE.

Do it! The 262 is awesome, and worth as much as all the Fuji gear put together, nearly.

be prepared for the learning curve and give the Leica some time and patience

Yeh that is one point for me to hesitate a bit more. With my Fuji i know i have 4 of the very best lenses available. But with this Leica none of them are the better ones out there. So would still have to wait to geta really nice Leica lens. Im thinking this one through still and I'm not really sure about it to be honest. My other choice to compliment is to get that Nikon D850 and selling the Fuji gear to be able to buy it. So its these two things i have to consider now.
