When stabilizing on half press is no good

It seems standard when viewing is stabilized by IBIS, it's done only when half pressing the shutter button. Oly, Sony, Pana, all the same it seems. Contrast to using lens OIS where the viewing can be stabilized permanently whenever the camera is on.

It makes sense as IBIS stabilization of viewing consumes energy, produces a sound which some find annoying, and probably wears out moving parts, probably to a greater degree than lens OIS does.

However, when using a manual focus lens the idiocy becomes apparent, because on half press the focus aid disappears. Stabilize the 1x view but not the 10x view. How illogical is that?

There is surely a setting that avoids this?
