Two Network cards in a laptop....

I am connecting my camera with wifi to the laptop. But I also would like to connect my phone at the same time. I only have one wifi adapter build in (replaceable). I tried to connect my phone (tethering) temporarily so I can look up something and then disconnect so the camera can reconnect again but there is a problem. It is not done automatically because for some reason my phone has priority.

So I am thinking to add another wifi adapter in some form or the other.

But "I am wondering if one adapter will not interfere with the other.

Has anyone done that? And how to assign one device to one adapter and the other device to the other adapter?

Thanks
