Reliable External Hard Disk questions and recommendations
1

Hey all...

For years, it has been my experience that Western Digital external hard drives have shown fairly long term reliability.  In my case (and I realize everyone has had different experiences), I've had less luck with Seagate models (all of them having crashed and I've had to discard them).

But I now need to replace 3 external hard drives (not that they've failed - nothing could be further from the truth) because I need larger capacities.  I was wondering what your choices in brand name would be based on any long-term experiences with them.  I'm looking for long-term reliability and it doesn't have to be just Western Digital.

What are your experiences?  Please don't mention Seagate because I've gone through 4 seagate external drives over the past 5 years - all died suddenly.

Thanks in advance...
