Is the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 still a good budget alternative?

For my D750 and D610 is the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 still a good budget and light alternative in 2017 for the Nikon/Tamron/Sigma 24-70mm?

And even a better option than the 24-120mm and 24-85mm?

I had the 24-85mm and was not happy with the IQ then I sold it.  And I had the Nikkor 24-70mmm 2.8 but it was heavy for me to hold.
