It's a matter of pros and cons. On the upside, you pay less than $400 for a housing with a dry dome port. On the downside, not all controls are accessible (no zoom or manual focus), no viewfinder (screen only, and it can wash out in bright sunlight which means you're shooting blind), limited selection of ports, no vacuum leak detection system, low resale value.
I have Meikon's new SeaFrogs housing for A6xxx series and it seems to work well enough, although I've only taken it snorkeling so far.
Regarding LEDs - I ordered a pair of Archon D36V lights (manufacturer claims 5200LM in warm white mode, with a 110 degree beam, plus it has red, purple and UV modes) two weeks ago, cost me $565 for the pair of lights, eight Panasonic 3400mAh cells and an 8-slot charger, but still waiting for the post to deliver them, so I can't say anything regarding quality.
Is there some sort of diffuser that comes with underwater lights?
