Simple Flash Question (X-T2)

Shooting an anniversary party this weekend. Ran a test using a Nissin Di700A flash set for TTL. Tested with a 16-50 XC lens; Camera is set to aperture priority at f5.6, shutter speed auto and ISO auto (max 6400). Shot a couple of fairly dimly-lit images in the kitchen at a bounce angle. ISO came out at 6400. My question is does the X-T2 only measure the ambient light (which, by itself in this case would certainly call for 6400), or does it anticipate the effect of the flash. Note that these came out with an acceptable exposure. However, this seems too sensitive for a flash shot. I'll try some at a manual ISO (say 400) and see what happens, but I'm puzzled by this.
