A7Rii -- Practicality of decreasing image size

Hello everybody,

First post here in this forum, but coming from Canon, I was thinking about getting the A7Rii.  I like shooting portraits and family pictures of my school-age kids.   I currently use a Canon 5D mark III shooting in JPG and the file sizes are sufficient.  I am afraid of getting this camera and with the 42mp sizes, they would be super large and take up a lot of time to load and cull through--I often take a lot of images to get that one.

Would it be practical to use a smaller JPG image size for like 20mp, assuming there is a setting?  Does it degrade the image when viewing on a 24 inch monitor or A3 size or just decrease the overall resolution when pixel-peeping?  Thanks.

Joe
