Looking for better focus on wood grain

I've been using a Nikon D600 with Tamron SP 24-70 F2.8  and strobe-flash to document my oak furniture. Carefully setting everything for good focus on maybe F11 and 100 ISO with vibration assist off, wood grain has not impressed with the detail I would like. I've recently bought a Sony RX100 and this has surpassed the Nikon in wood detail not using flash. Could the moir(?) filter on the D600 be reducing the focus please?

I wish to continue with the much more expensive Nikon if possible for this work.
