SL2 and memory cards
2

I thought it might be useful to some SL2 users to know that the speed of the memory card used has a big impact on fps when recording JPG (large-fine option) only. I initially used a 16gb Lexar 633x card and found I could shoot a 2-3 second burst when in continuous mode with JPG only recording.

I bought a 64gb Sandisk Extreme Pro card and was surprised that with it installed I can shoot JPG bursts continuously and rattled off a 30 second burst of 130 shots before I stopped the camera. I think it will shoot continuously in JPG only mode. Also, the buffer clears in a tad over two seconds when shooting RAW only for a run of five continuous shots. So while the RAW buffer performance isn't great the JPG buffer looks to be unlimited. Not bad for a $550 camera, IMO.

If you are buying memory cards it might be worth it to pay a little more for the Sandisk Extreme Pro. I got mine (64gb) for $35 from B&H which is the best price I found by far from a reputable seller. Buying from a less reputable seller might get you a fake card that doesn't perform nearly as well as the real thing.
