Ash and Smoke Obscures the Sun
5

GarySeattle posted a picture of the sun this morning showing the red color of the sun.  I went out at 8:40am and took several shots of the sun.  I live in Redmond, WA, about 14 miles east of Seattle.  The sun varied in color from initially yellow red to dark red.  The color is from the many fires in the northwest, including smoke from British Columbia, Oregon, and Washington.  Although we have been living with smoke and poor air quality since at least August, this is the first time we had ash covering our cars, decks, etc.

The shot below shows three large sun spots and several smaller ones.  Shot was taken with my Pany G7 and 100-300 Pany lens (ver. 1) and was cropped in PS.  No other editing was done.

Smoke and Ash Partially Obscures the Sun

Cheers,

Gary (in Redmond)
