SL2 (and other Canons) viewfinder dioptric adjustment

I"ve owned multiple dozens of Canons over my ca 40 years of using various SLR's, dSLR's and smaller Canons, and have never fooled with the viewfinder dioptric adjustment. I have very difficult eye problems, (keratoconus, which is a corneal deterioration), corrected with wearing "piggyback", (hard over soft) , contact lenses plus corrective glasses. Whatever the default of the little rotating VF corection wheel happened  to be was o.k. and I just never fooled with it. I do see and understand the +/-  correction  as marked on the camera above the wheel.

But on the SL2, I started fiddling with the little correction wheel, and for ME, I can tell little- to- no difference . I also can't locate the default setting, if there was one. Can anyone enlighten me ?

Thanks.... carolyn
