Lenses for National Parks (Zion, Bryce Canyon and Yosemite)

Hi there

I am planning to do my first trip to some of the national parks in the US. I will be in Zion, Bryce Canyon and Yosemite (with city-trips to San Francisco and Las Vegas)

I do have to decide what lenses I shall take with me and I am not yet sure.

I have the following lenses available:

  • Wide angle
    • Tamron 15-30mm f2.8 VC (VR)
    • Nikon 20mm f1.8 (non VR)
  • Normal zoom
    • Nikon 24-120mm f4
  • Tele
    • Nikon 70-200mm f4
    • Nikon 300mm PF f4

As you can see in the Wide-angle- as well as in the tele-sector I have two lenses (one prime and one zoom.

Especially for the (ultra-)wide-angle I am not yet sure if the added weight (+705 grams) compared to the prime are worth to take the more flexible 15-30mm is worth it.

For the Tele's, weight is less of an issue (the 300mm PF is even 91 gramms lighter than the 70-200mm f4).

Does anyone with experience for those national-parks have some good advice about the lens-setup?

All lenses will be used on a D750 (FX) body.

Best regards
