Looks like a big difference is the luminance noise in the quattro.  Not sure if Tim tried to remove it via spp or not but it looks like not.  It would be worthwhile to do a similar test and remove the luminance noise.

When you say 3MP were you referring to the red layer of the sensor?

No, those images you linked to where 3mp in size, you could use the Quattro but you won't get full size quality and it's not as good as the SD series.

The Merrill images are really nice.

I an new to Sigma, they seem unique and I am anxious to try the SDQ. I am wondering if the 17-70 has any hot spots
