Extra long printing

i have a Canon ix6550 printer on which I want to print some images that will be 720mm long - almost 2 a3 pages end to end.

does anyone know if I can simply load an extra long bit of substrate and then feed the image to the printer, either from PS or as a PDF? I don't know if the printer will just keep printing until it stops getting fed data or whether the firmware will stop anything larger?

I am assuming that I can get around the printer driver by making a custom print size (somehow)

any ideas or thoughts?
