Entry level DSLRs seem to be selling pretty well

At least... if the Amazon Best Sellers list means anything.

Here is the current "Amazon best sellers " for ILC cameras:

  1. Canon T6 bundle
  2. Victure Action camera
  3. Canon T6 bundle (different bundle)
  4. Canon T6 bundle (different bundle)
  5. Canon T6 bundle (different bundle)
  6. Nikon D3400 with kit lens (refurbished)
  7. Smile Powo Action Camera
  8. Sony A6000 with kit lens
  9. Nikon D3400 two kit lens bundle
  10. Canon T5 with kit lens
  11. Nikon D3400 with two kit lenses
  12. Panasonic G7 with kit lens
  13. Nikon D3400 with kit lens
  14. Nikon D3300 with kit lens
  15. Canon T6 with kit lens
  16. Canon T6 with kit lens (refurbished)
  17. Canon T6 with two kit lens bundle
  18. Canon T6 bundle (different bundle)
  19. Canon T7i body
  20. Canon 5D Mk IV body

Consider this:

  • 14 of the top 20 sellers are either Canon or Nikon entry level DSLRs
  • Only one of the top 20 is a high end camera (Canon 5D Mk IV)
  • Only one mid level DSLR makes the list (Canon T7i)
  • Only one Panasonic MILC model makes the list (G7)
  • Only one Sony MILC model makes the list (a6000)
  • The brand name "Canon" appears 11 times on this top 20 list
  • the 2 action cameras don't even belong on the list since they aren't ILCs. Obviously a data entry mistake by some low level Amazon clerk.

Even though the entire camera market is down, the entry level DSLR seems to still be selling pretty well. And if this list from the world's largest camera retailer means anything, then the entry level DSLRs sell a whole lot better than mid level or high end ILC models do.
