Crescent Shadows from Eclipse(Not Astrophotography)
4

I was walking down the dead end, tree covered, road I live on during the 92% totality in central Arkansas when I noticed the shadows from the sweet gums and oaks were shaped like the crescent of sun that was visible along with a bright adjoining crescent light. Some kind of diffraction? I wish pics could do it justice. Whole road shimmered like underwater. Thousands of miniature reversed images of the moon ands sun.

Can anyone explain to me the mechanism by which these were produced?

Grainy texture is caused by the road being "chip sealed', a mixture of fine rock and tar.
