5D iv - Metering with shutter button and AE lock and hold

Hi.

I just got a 5D iv and while configuring the camera, I ran into a confusion issue.

If I set the shutter to AE lock, af-on to focus and cn-fn to ae lock and hold, the ae lock and hold doesn´t seem to function. It doesn´t hold the exporuse unless I keep the button pressed.

If I set the shutter to metering start, of course it doesn´t lock the exposure, leaving me the only option to use the cn-fn to lock it.

I´m using the * to use a secondary focus point and the depth of view preview set to ae lock.

Is there a way to use ae lock and hold (assigned to a button) and also have ae lock on the shutter button? A way that the ae lock and hold could overwrite the metering on the shutter button, but also having the metering on the shutter when not using the ae lock and hold.

Thanks!
