Leica Lenses, back-focusing and color, test on TL2
3

There is a never ending story about "back-focusing" and not enough about color reproduction. The recently released TL 2 has a superb sensor (24 MP ) and the color is correct ( with the right lenses )

The AF T 35mm /1.4 produces a good and sharp picture at about 100 % crop.

When using the M 35mm/2 lens set at infinity (distance is about 50 yards ), f=4, the result is "no good"

However if the EFV is used, and the setting fine tuned, not infinity but set at 10m, things are much better. Under extreme bright light condition this focusing is almost impossible .Light comes from all sides. Here the AF lens offers a huge advantage.

Now the manual focus lens (also set at f=4) shines. I still think the T 35mm/1.4 is a bit better then the "older" 35mm/2. The 35mm/1.4mm gives similar results.

Leica made huge progress in recalculating their lenses!

Here is the original "full" pictures

An interesting little camera is the SONY RX100 IV.

This is the about 100 % crop.

And one more highlight , the Sony RX1 R 42 MP camera

At 100 % crop the RX 1 R , f=8 and 1/2000 seems to lose resolution.

I am NOT convinced that the 43 MP is the answer to photographic "happiness"

Here is the full picture:

As to color, here is an indoor picture with the T lens

and now with the M lens, both AWB. Good question why the color change?

The M lens provides the more correct color.

and now ?

I wish this forum would address these essentially technical issues a bit more.
