A few Egrets and Herons from North Queensland

I am trying to get better shots of egrets BIF. So far I have found that good light and fast shutter speeds help. F 8 works better than F5.6 to get more of the body in focus. I like morning light better than late afternoon light for my situation.( the bird hide is in better light in the morning). More practicing helps to get better at AF tracking. I am starting to realize that setting my exposure to -2/3 or -1 stop gives me less blown highlights when shooting mostly white birds. Comments welcome.

This White necked heron has a crustacean for lunch

I was there when he was coming for a landing.

The wings are quite impressive when in flight.

Plumed Whistling ducks making a rapid turn. I don't have issues with exposure with blue, green, or brown birds

The intermediate Egrets have arrived in numbers

Some blown highlights. i forgot to change my exposure.

These two were almost landing on each other. It certainly got the attention of the others.

At this time of year, there are many larger waterbirds and ducks on the Atherton Tablelands where I live.
