The E5 was a significant upgrade over my E510 (essentially the same sensor as the E3) at high ISO. The E-M1.1(not cross type PDAF sensors) is equal to the E5 CAF for large targets which occupy a large vertical space. The E5 CAF (cross type sensors) is better for smaller targets and more horizontal ones (especially for smaller BIFs). The E-M1 has about a one stop advantage over the E-M1.1 and much better dynamic range and much better stabilization.

I found that E3 is a significant upgrade over E4/510, higher ISO performance, more detail, focus much faster and less blow highlight.

With today's PS E3 is safe for ISO800, and usable 1600.  I will skip E5, it is just too expensive.
