Wonderful SMC Pentax-DA 35mm F2.4 AL !

Indeed! Inexpensive SMC Pentax-DA 35mm F2.4 ALmakes me happy, even on fullframe K-1!

Actually I think it is fullframe lens, even Pentax presents it like APS-C prime. And even more - I think its's basicly same with "FF" SMC Pentax-FA 35mm F2 AL .

And price...WOW...for 149$ - it's a steal

Okey, its build quality isn't so great, Plastic fantasy, in the true sense of the word. But optically it rocks, and AF works pretty fast too, also in live view mode. Nice.

Here are my recent snapshots with K-1 & DA 35/2.4, in fullframe mode.

...Except this first pair of sample. these are shot with Sony A7RII (FF mode), because I made a modest comparison between DA 35/2.4 and Canon FD 35/2, wide open.

Canon FD 35/2 is quite good true FF prime.

First DA 35/2.4, f/2.4:

Canon FD 35/2, f/2:

Both can perform nice center sharpness, but if you look at right corners, Pentax DA 35/2.4 is pretty much better! Even these are fullframe corners...

Anyway. Here are those snapshots with K-1 &DA 35/2.4:

f/2.4

f/2.8

f/2.8

f/2.4

Also close focusing works well:

f/2.4

f/2.4

f/2.4

That's it. Tell me what you like, and maybe your own experiences with DA 35/2.4!

BTW - What I noticed with Pentax K-1, DA 35/2.4 suffer some focus shift...Wide open focus works well, but if you use stopped down apertures, then focus can go a little bit off. I should try it more. But with Sony A7RII there was not  such a problem...Maybe because I have to use stopped down aperture when manual focusing?

regards,

Ari
