"Mirrorless" is very tongue-in-cheek obviously. This is the first camera I've owned with DPAF, and I am quite impressed with the technology. Camera focuses as well and as quickly in live view as most newer mirrorless cameras I've tried, if not faster.
Which lens are you using with it? If it's not the 18-135 nano USM then you haven't seen anything yet! Nano USM in live view indoors is so fast. Much faster than even the 35 f/2 USM IS.
And with the camera's compact size, it feels like using a mirrorless camera with the bonus of an OVF.
I was an owner of the SL1, and found that a nice camera. The SL2 is so far an upgrade in almost way possible, and is still very affordable. Quite happy with the purchase so far. My only wish is for Canon to develop a faster compact EF-S prime lens, kind of like the EF-M 22mm f/2.
