The OEM Hood/Adapter kit is made of metal not plastic, but I agree it is ridiculously overpriced. Even, the adapter alone, which Fuji sells separately, costs more than the third=party hood kits. JJC is one of several companies offering exact copy hood/adapter kits for under $20 and what you are showing is one of three different hoods that JJC offers.
I don't use hoods but, I bought a Vello kit from B&H just to get the adapter to attach 49mm filters to my black X100T. I had the OEM kit when I had a silver X100T. Since then I've discovered a couple of other options. The X100 series lens has male 49mm threads, instead of the usual female threads that most lenses that accept filters have. One solution is to knock the glass out of an old 49mm filter and mount the ring backwards on the front of the X100 lens and then mount any filters onto the ring backwards. The ring is nt as long as the kit adapter but provides enough clearance for the lens movement when focusing. A user in another X100 forum had a 49mm filter ring with double female threads, but he didn't answer requests for where he got it.
Do you prefer the black 100 over the silver? I don't care if it's stealthy or not.
To me, the silver X100T was more beautiful than the black X100T I also had. It reminded me of some of the rangefinder cameras I owned in the past and I was obviously not alone because people would often come up to me and ask if it was an old film camera. This was sort of a double edged sword in that on the one hand, it would be a pain when I was trying to shoot and go unnoticed, but on the other hand, it was an opportunity to start a conversation and ask for a casual portrait; something I would never do on my own. With the black X100T people paid little attention to me.

When all else fails, maybe it's time to read the manual.
