Wide angle environmental protraiture seems to be all the rage in high end art/music/film and even fashion magazines. The GR is very suitable for that IMO. If you want, background  can be very pleasingly blurred if you get close to the subject. You can get great skin tones out of camera but you will probably have to fiddle with the default settings. You can redevelop the same photo in-camera as many times as you want, altering white balance, saturation, filters, etc., after the fact, which makes initial learning and experimentation easier.
