Rebel SL2 + Sigma 100-400 f5 for bird photos?

I have become dissatisfied with my Olympus m4/3 equipment for bird photography and am considering going back to a lightweight DSLR rig.

The desired improvements are: higher resolution, better image quality generally, and better continuous auto-focus, and at a lower cost than the sort of m4/3 gear that would provide these.

What appeals to me in terms of price and specs, is the Rebel SL2 + Sigma 100-400 f5.

Any comments on this combo for birding, or other suggestions,  would be appreciated. I would like to keep the total price under $2000 and the combined weight under 2kg

Steve
