People need to learn composition, and a phone is as good as any way to do that, but it's a small microcosm of what photography is about.

An iPhone is about the most useless landscape or wildlife camera it's possible to imagine.

There's a woman who has a large following in a local landscape Facebook group, who started out with an iphone...it was her way of composing scenes that we all knew very well that made her a stand-out contributor in the group, in spite of most others having DSLRs and the like. I'm not sure if she's still using the phone or has moved-on...I must check.
