I think he's referring to the readout speed, not the shutter speed. But since multiple exposures are combined over multiple readouts, it's not a bad approximation. A high shutter speed would just make sharp artifacts.

No hes quoting the flash sync speeds for both cameras when using electronic shutter.

Don is right. I got it wrong.

I use HiRes mode in macro work where I use flash as my light source and have the restricted sync speeds I mentioned.

In general photography without flash HiRes mode has no such limitation. I forgot this when I posted above. Sorry for any confusion I caused.

High Res is still using the e-shutter tho, so regardless of what the shutter speed is the readout speed limitation is still there...
