Photo viewer with per-photo copy protect?
Jul 29, 2017
Does anyone know of a photo viewer app for Android that shows which photos on an attached USB device are copy protected, and is able to let me set/unset copy protection?
The long story:
I usually go through the photos in-camera and select keepers by marking them as protected. Once I've gone through all the photos on the SD card I just do a Delete All to delete all the photos not marked. I then copy them to my library on my computer. (This has helped me to not save a bunch of photos that I'm not interested.)
However, I sometimes find it tedious to do this selection work (culling?) on the camera, for a few reasons (ergonomics; display size; can't really work with a range of photos, but have to go through the WHOLE card before I can erase non-keepers...).
I've just noticed that copy protection on my Panasonic Lumix cameras is done on the file system level (the copy protection bit is set on both RW2 and corresponding JPG files). If I mark a photo as protected in the camera, it is copy protected on the FAT file system on the SD card, and if I mark it as copy protected in Windows, it is marked as protected in the camera when I put the card back in the camera.
I have an SD card reader that I can attach to my android devices with an OTG cable. So if I could find an app that allows me to see and edit (in a nice way) the copy protection of my photos, I could alternate between doing this process in-camera and on my phone/tablet. Ideally, this app would also let me delete a range of non-copy-protected photos.
