It just defaults to "One-Shot AF" mode when you choose "Silent Single Shooting" (only works in P, Tv, Av, and M modes, on viewfinder shooting, by the way).

So AF operation becomes non-selectable, and it "grays out" to show "One-Shot AF".

Canon itself refers to SSS modes as "quieter". Personally what I just see is, it spreads out the same amount of total noise over a longer time interval. Thus has been seeing no use from me.

Hope it helps.

This is the reason the frame rate drops when using the Silent Shutter option.

Just tried this out using both Silent Single Shooting and plain Single Shooting, and I could definitely tell the FRS dropped down.

Thanks for all this info guys ! I appreciate your understanding of my question and time to answer so well !
