SL2 'silent' shutter noise level

I have both the SL1 and now the SL2. On the SL1, I wanted to use 'Silent ' shutter but there is some conflict in the drive mode with "One Shot AF" so I have been using that mode instead. On the SL1, "Silent" shutter is more of a clicking sound. " One Shot AF" is a definite "clunking" sound.

On the SL2, t in trying out the difference in noise, the two settings (Silent vs. One Shot AF), I'd say "Silent" shutter is so close to the regular "One Shot AF" sound as to be negligible. Both are clicking sounds.

I would appreciate someone explainig the difference in "One Shot AF" vs. "Silent" shooting mode on theh SL2. I'm not getting it !

Silent is a relative term. There will never be a absolute silent shutter on a DSLR. It probably should be referred to as a quieter shutter. On the 6D it does reduce shutter noise a good bit but it is not silent.

Exactly !  Before I realized the reality (or non-reality ?) of "SILENT" shutter on the first camera I had that gave me that choice, I thought it was malfunctioning because "silent" definitely was not !  So perhaps Canon should give it a "lower noise" name.
