SL2 as third body travel camera?

Apologies if folks think this question has been answered already by the many threads covering the SL2....

I currently have a 7Dii and an 80D which I use for sports and event photography. I'm not a pro, but people tend to like the shots I take, so I think I do okay.

But, I find both of these just a little too chunky when travelling and have been looking for a third body solution for some time. I've done the Sony A6000, but was never impressed with the results or the lenses. I've done the M3... great images, woeful usability. I currently have a Panasonic G80/5 which is great, but the SOOC JPEGS aren't that good at higher ISOs due to some over zealous noise reduction. Processing the RAWs makes for decent results, but I just don't  have time in my life to process RAWs... particularly  when travelling!

So, I have been contemplating the M5.... even though it's crazy expensive. BUT... and finally I get to my point... I'd like opinions on whether I'd be happy with the SL2 as my small,  light travel option... with the new 18-55, 24 STM and 10-18. I don't want the 800D or 77D.... they can't beat the Panny for size and weight. And, I when I really need the capabilities of the 80D, I have that option.  And... I'm not going below MFT in terms of sensor size.

i just want a simple to use, small and light travel camera that doesn't frustrate me with picture quality, but doesn't ask me to think too much when on vacation... most of the reviews of the SL2 view it as an entry level camera only, but what about those of us looking for something to sit alongside our 'proper' gear?
